Scars The Woodlands
WHAT IT IS
Scars can be either post-traumatic or post-surgical. Scars are a normal part of healing anytime the skin is compromised. Sometimes scars can become less aesthetically pleasing, especially if they are on the face or other exposed areas. Traits of scars that make them less pleasing are widening, darkening or turning reddish in color, or becoming raised such as in keloids or hypertrophic scars. Although some displeasing scars need to be treated by surgical excision and meticulous skin closure, some can be treated with the modalities listed below. Scars can never be completely removed nor can any surgery (that involves cutting the skin) be done without causing a post-surgical scar.
