Unwanted Hair The Woodlands
WHAT IT IS
Unwanted hair is a common complaint. It’s common on the upper lip, chin, cheeks, back, legs, fingers, feet, and toes. It can have many causes, including genetics, certain medications such as steroids, higher levels of certain hormones, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Your hair grows in different cycles and many factors influence growth. How much hair you have depends on how many hairs are in the growth cycle and the length of that cycle. The three different growth stages for a hair follicle are anagen, catagen and telogen. The anagen stage is the growing phase and when the hair follicle is the closest to the skin surface. During this phase the follicle has the most melanin and is the easiest to treat.
