The Difference Between Restylane Lyft and Juvederm Voluma XC
Restylane Lyft (Galderma laboratories) and Juvederm Voluma XC (Allergan, Inc) both fall into the category of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. These products are used to increase volume in the face and to smooth out wrinkles/creases. Both are non-surgical, in-office procedures. Restylane Lyft was just recently approved by the FDA for BOTH the treatment of decreased volume in the cheeks AND to add volume for the correction of smile lines (which are known as nasolabial folds). Restylane Lyft was formerly known as Perlane. It is now being remarketed as Restylane Lyft. Restylane Lyft and Perlane are one and the same.
Juvederm Voluma XC was the first FDA-approved injectable filler indicated to correct volume loss in the cheek area only. Unlike Restylane Lyft, it is not FDA-approved for the correction of smile lines. To be fair, it must be said that many of these products have off-label uses that are well accepted in the plastic surgery community so some plastic surgeons may very well use Juvederm Voluma to correct smile lines although not FDA-approved for this. You should consult with your plastic surgeon to find the right choice for you and your needs. Both of these products are offered to our clients at The Lind Institute of Plastic Surgery.
