Photofacial in Houston
BroadBand Light (BBL)™, commonly referred to as “intense pulsed light (IPL)”, “phototherapy”, or “photofacial”, is the most advanced light-based therapy available in the USA. BBL effectively reduces your skin's imperfections, including sun damage, age spots, discoloration, and redness.
BBL is a light-based therapy that is effective in resolving an array of skin conditions. Our Houston BBL photofacial procedure uses various wavelengths of light energy to remove skin blemishes on the face or body comfortably. BBL skin rejuvenation is among the most popular aesthetic treatments because it's effective, non-invasive, and requires minimal to zero downtime.
Our Houston Photofacial treatment takes about 30 minutes, during which a chilled sapphire crystal is placed on your skin while a quick light is flashed. This pulsed light treatment can correct the signs of aging or skin damage that have developed over the years. The light stimulates your body's natural healing process. In the days following your treatment, damaged skin such as freckles and sun spots will move to the surface of your skin and naturally flake off. When the process is complete, your skin will appear refreshed and evenly toned.
Most individuals are candidates for BBL and can look forward to a glowing and smoother complexion. If you are currently tanning, taking photo-sensitive medications, or are pregnant, you should consider BroadBand Light treatment at a later time. BBL treatment is ideal if you have a Fitzpatrick skin type of I-IV. These skin types range from pale white to darker white to light brown skin.
After your BBL treatment, your skin may be slightly red. The redness commonly lasts for a few hours after the treatment, sometimes longer, but is a common response to the treatment. Over the next few days, you will notice sun spots, freckles, age spots, or other areas of hyperpigmentation gradually getting darker. The darkened pigmentation will rise to the skin's surface and will begin to flake off for up to seven days before disappearing. Because this is a non-ablative treatment, you can use makeup to camouflage your skin during this time.
The number of treatments will depend on your unique skin and overall goals, but the average is four to six treatments. BBL treatments should be scheduled about four weeks apart. Our skincare professionals at Lind Plastic Surgery & Med Spa will help guide you through the process, answering any questions you may have about BBL and explaining how to achieve refreshed, rejuvenated, evenly toned skin in a painless and effective manner.
