What is cellulite?

Cellulite is the result of fat trapped by tough skin fibers just beneath the epidermis. As more fat accumulates, skin fibers pull down, causing the fat to push up into the skin. This results in a dimpled or “orange peel” appearance, often on the thighs, buttocks, and other areas where the body stores fat. Cellulite can be experienced by men and women, although it is much more common in women due to their unique distribution of fat, muscle, and connective tissue. In fact, nine out of ten women have cellulite.

What causes cellulite?

The exact cause of cellulite is unknown, but it is essential to remember that cellulite is a skin issue — not a weight issue. Both those who are overweight or slender can have issues with cellulite. Cellulite appears to be the result of a combination of factors, most of which are not controllable. These factors include:

  • Fluctuating hormone levels
  • The decrease in elasticity of skin due to aging
  • Reduced blood flow due to aging
  • Genetic indicators
  • Sedentary lifestyle or job that requires sitting all day
  • A diet that with an excess of fat and carbohydrates

How can I get rid of my cellulite?

It’s challenging to eradicate cellulite completely, but scientific advancements have given us new tools and procedures to reduce its appearance. The Lind Institute of Plastic Surgery in Houston recommends a treatment plan using the cutting-edge LPG endermologie system to combat cellulite.

LPG endermologie was the first technology worldwide to gain FDA clearance for the treatment of cellulite, and the system is used in 110 countries. This technology directly targets the tough connective tissue that creates the dimpled appearance of cellulite.

How Does LPG Endermologie Reduce Cellulite?

To reduce cellulite using LPG endermologie technology, our team will first assess your problem areas and the severity of your cellulite. We often recommend a treatment plan that includes a series of 6 to 16 sessions that are 30 to 60 minutes each. These sessions can be scheduled once or twice a week. Each session will involve a mechanized deep-tissue massage. The amount of treatments can vary depending on the severity of the cellulite. Some patients may need more than 16 treatments.

The LPG endermologie system uses suction to soften hardened fat and flush it out. This non-invasive procedure improves skin tone and circulation while tightening your skin and reducing cellulite. It is entirely painless, and it may even alleviate aches and pains in the treatment area.
